My water heater is old (20+ yrs) and will need replacement soon. I just do not have funds right now. I’m taking shorter showers, but I seem to notice a soft hissing after I bathe or run the dishwasher. Is this normal? It may have been making these sounds before and I just didn’t notice. But now that I’m on guard more I hear it.
Also, can the unit “explode” or will it just die out and stop working?
My electric water heater needs the upper element reset several times a week. Some times, it will be a few weeks between resets, other times, several times a week. Does it need to be replaced or do the elements need to be replaced or does it need a “flushing”? TIA.
hot water is leaking from the relief valve. the floor is getting wet and so is carpet. how can I stop the water from leaking there. I have turned the cold water from coming into the water heater how do I drain some of the water below the valve, if possible?
our water heater is slowly leaking from the top fittings. We got all new parts to replace them and have drained alot of water withour hose. We are still getting water coming out when we loosen the fittings. We had the main water to the heater turned off. Do we have to drain the whole tank.? It is quiet a bit of water coming out when we loosen the fitting.
I’m looking into a Freije Easy Water softener system… it doesn’t use salt and there’s no plumbing necessary… basically just plug it in and no more waterspots or build up. Does anyone have experience with it?
Can a water heater explode is if it giving out? I get about 15 mins of hot water time before it gets cold and worry about a fire happening..
Our hot water heater, which is in the basement, won’t work. A nearby GFI outlet won’t reset, and that fuse on the circuit box is tripped. We tried replacing the fuse with a new one, but it still will not reset. We thought it could have been due to dampness in the basement, so we ran a dehumidifier. Nothing has worked. What should we try next?
I have an electric water heater, and it stopped producing hot water, only cold water comes out of my hot taps. Hubby presed the reset button, but it only heats the water for a short period of time and then it’s back to cold water again. What could be causing this, how can it be fixed, and is it something I or hubby can do ourselves? I was told that my heating elements (whatever those are) may need to be replaced. Could that be the reason for the cold water?
I really need a water softener… but I live in an apartment. Will that work?
I just bought a house that had been previously winterized. I have a Rheem dual element electric water heater that is not turning out hot water. There is electric power to the water heater because I had it checked but for some reason no hot water. The water felt warm for a while but never hot and now its just plain cold again. Anyone have any ideas before I call a plumber?
