How Do I Get Longer Lasting Hot Water From My Water Heater?

I live in an apartment and recently they did something to our water heaters. I used to be able to take a 45 minute shower before the hot water ran out and now it hardly lasts 15 minutes. My neighbors are having the same problem. I am able to access the room with my water heater, is there a nozzle I can adjust or something I can do to increase the amount of time I can enjoy my steamy shower? Its a gas heater, if that helps.

Crank up the stat—if they weren’t inside the apartment to change any thing in your shower–they probably dropped the setting..Maybe someone old complained they were getting scalded when thepressuree dropped.Older fixtures had no anti-scalding features-a balancing system–so if the pressure dropped the water would burn. Their is no nozzle -just the thermostat

put a lowflow shower head on your shower that will increase the amount of hot water going to your shower,if you can get to your water heater check the setting, they may have turned it down some, its the round red knob that gives you different heat ranges, set it to hot and thats bout all you can do with a gas water heater

Be careful not to turn up the temperature too high because there is a higher risk of burns then. If you have children or nieces or nephews or any young child it is a particular risk.

Hi. it sounds like they just finally brought your building up to code by adding mixing valves to limit the water temp. Sorry there will be nothing you can do.

turn up the temperature on the heater (there should be a dial that you can use to set this).
