How do you recharge a water softener pillow?

I see a Aquarium Pharmaceutical (brand) Water Softner Pillow for 5 bucks and wonder how do you recharge it?
it says that you can recharge it. It uses this sodium thingy?

    Rinse the pillow in tap water, then grab the container it came in and put the pillow back in. Fill it to the brim with water, then add 3 Tablespoons of Aquarium Salt. After 2 hours of being submerged in that, the pillow will be recharged. You can leave it in there for storage. If you threw away the container, then any container not exposed to soap will do for this. You want 7 ounces of water and 3 Tablespoons of Aquarium Salt.
