How Does Water Heater Heat Water So Quickly?
my friend has a small water heater. it has no water tank like ours in the basement. so it cant store hot water. it’s about the size of a computer. it connects to the gas pipe just like the stove. you can set the water temperature. if you set it to the highest, the water can burn your skin. its extremely hot. that makes me think. when we burn water for foods, it takes us like 10 mins to get hot water. so i wonder how the water heater heats the running water so fast.

it as about 10 feet of 3/8 copper pipe in it that loops all through the unit so it is call a continues hot water

I have one. It is called “on demand” or “tankless”
It heats the water like you said, with gas. It heats just like a tank type only it doesn’t store the water and keep it hot until you need it. It heats it when you “demand” it and keeps heating it until you turn it off.
You still have to clear the cold water from the pipes so you still get cold water at first. But it is great. We can take two showers and run the dishwasher at the same time. No problems.

GH explains its construction well….
Its burner is larger (i.e., hotter) than a ‘normal’ gas heater… but lots less each day.
They’re standard fare in Europe (and have been over 40 years now).
