This works by replacing the heavy metals, Ca, Mg. Mn etc with sodium ions. The anions in the water are not removed. The salt is used to regenerate the resin, by a very high concentration of Na ions during the regeneration, which strips the Ca, Mg etc ions off the resin for Na ions, and so the process is repeated. But you will not remove CO3, SO4, Cl, and unfortunately for you, F ions. So for your intended purpose, this water softening device will not fulfill its desired function.
