I Have Water In My Crawl Space, How Do I Dry Out? Water Heater Dumped All The Water Under The House.?
Insulation is soaked, it is a muddy mess, very concerned about mildew and mold getting a foot hold.

The water should all soak into the ground fairly fast. If you like, you can rent a couple of carpet dryers to dry everything up faster. They are very powerful fans and move a lot of air. But I don’t think you’ll have any problems by letting nature take it’s course and dry it. Just open up the crawlspace any way you can.

If there is still standing water make little slits in the poly to let it soak into the ground. Most home owners I deal w/ when this happens, do use fans to dry it out faster. Definitely replace wet insulation after crawl space is dried out.

Have you made a claim on your homeowners insurance, they can refer a water damage mitigation company out to remove any wet damaged insulation/debris, apply antimicrobial treatment to surfaces, & dry-out the space with commercial drying equipment. Usually a loss like yours is covered.

Depending on how much water is there you could pump it out, then use fans to dry out. Remember to keep foundation vents open in warm months. I would remove and replace any wet insulation to prevent mold growth, because it is hard to dry out and inexpensive to replace. Tips to keep a dry crawlspace are to maintain good drainage and grade on exterior, extend downspouts 4-6 ft from foundation and consider adding a 6 mil plastic vapor barrier over soil in crawlspace to keep moisture below plastic. Remember anything you can do to keep moisture away from home is a good idea!
Good Luck!
