Is Owning A Water Softener A Luxury Or Necessity?
My home was built in 1952 and it did not come with a water softener. What are the advantages to having one? Are they easy to install?

IF you have very hard water, you may want to consider plumbing it to the baths and kitchen only….do NOT plumb the whole house! You cannot use softened water on plants (lawns, etc.). Clothes get a lot cleaner with softened water, but….I have a softener, I have hard water…and I have just shut mine off…too expensive to operate (the flushing process …daily….goes on forever, and used excessive water. AND, softened water is loaded with sodium ions! If you have BP problems, this is not a good solution.

unless its a necessity why bother?? personally hate softened water.. feels all slimy in the shower but..thats just personal preference. my family was greatly relieved when they needed a new well and found out they no longer needed a softener with the new one. no more hassle of buying bags of salt to dump in the thing and periodic maintenance.

Hard water dries out your skin. I not being funny, it really is bad for your skin.
