Water Heater Dumping Too Much Water?

My water heater overflow is dumping water too frequent. I have done the regular checks recommend by the manufacture, but several days the problem happened again. The water heater is six years old. Please help.

Your water heater shouldn’t be “dumping” any water. This is the safety overflow valve and, it sounds like it needs replacing. If you can’t do it safely, call a plumber.

The water tank Blowoff valve on the side of the tank “Over flow to you” is bad. This part is low cost and replaced quickly.

Sounds like your pressure relief valve.its on top.Looks like a little metal 3 inch long tab.Easy to change,be sure you turn off water and electric when you do.

I think you should call a plumber.
