  1. DID I DO THIS? Says:

It is the part that screws into the shell and is attached to the electric wires at the thermostat. If you need to replace them go to the door on the side of your unit disconnect the wires and unscrew and pull it out ( it’s approx. 10 inches long ). Generally this requires a special wrench. Put the new one in and reconnect the wires. It is a simple chore.
    Sorry, don’t know.

i don’t know …it is a wire that resists the flow of electricity ,and so heats up ,it is surrounded by a ceramic coating that insulates the wire. in a water heater the element must be surrounded by water at all times or it will overheat and melt then short. why explain it ,just call it electric one or 2 elements ,how old is it ,how much you want .

  3. James H Says:

An electric water heater has nothing in it that would be worth more than two bucks at a scrap yard. If you are trying to sell it for re-use, that’s against the law.

  4. charlie's girl Says:

Elements is an object that looks similar to a burner on a stove . It’s what heats your water up.

  5. Terry D Says:

You can buy a new one for $15.00 It will be worth about 1 cent at a scrap yard. Tin & copper.
