I just got a new water heater put in for my apartment. The water is not very hot. How long does it take to heat up?

Maybe an hour or two, no more than that. There’s an adjustment on the water heater for temperature. It may be that it’s just turned down.

if its gas it takes about 30-45 minutes….if its electric,,it takes about 90 minutes or so….its also possible the installer didnt leave the water heater thermostat turned up very high,,either by mistake or for liability reasons…sometimes its up to the homeowner or tenant to turn up the temperature to their liking,if the adjustment is easy to locate…..dan

If it is a conventional one, I would guess at least an hour. The other thing to look at is the temperature setting. I have noticed over the years what they call hot is closer to warm. So you may need to go from hot up a bit with the setting.
