Where can I buy a plastic water heater drip pan that will fit in the corner?

I’ve been told these corner-style water heater drip pans are relatively easy to find, but so far not one hardware store has carried them or been able to point me in the right direction. I can’t even find a photo of one online.

For it’s purpose it does need to be a triangle shape and fit right into a corner. I have tried with the round style and it just doesn’t cut it.

    Square should work.

It doesn’t need to be plastic, just a non-rusting metal.

    Good luck!

    1. If being required by a city official for code reasons, then yes do what you have to in order to find this pan. Most likely this triangle pan, was fabricated by some company.

Suggestion: The purpose of the pan, is to obviously catch a leaky water heater before it overflows and that’s assuming you check it regularly. Which no offense most people don’t. They simply notice the water when it has overflowed.

I’d recommend you get a water alarm and like home depot or online, whichever. They are like $10 bucks run on a 9volt battery. Stick the battery in the box and set it by the water heater, the moment the water heater leaks water and touches the sensors on the bottom of the water alarm…it goes off like a smoke alarm. Obviously will only do you good, if someone is home to hear it and shut the cold water inlet valve off.

Alternative to just alarm which is a little more advance technology is a automatic water alarm shutoff valve. Seen here: http://bit.ly/crmWOv which you definitely want a licensed plumber to install for you.

Final comment: the purpose is really to avoid water damage. Sooner the better, so cheap water alarm for $10 bucks would be my route.
