Why Does The Hot Water Heater For My House Have A Fan That Is Constantly Running/some Sort Of Exhaust?
It is connected to some sort of pipe that leads to the outside of the garage so it just always is blowing hot air from inside the garage to the outside. It wouldn’t bother me if it weren’t for the noise. The garage is located under the master bedroom so I hear it run constantly. Also, it makes me wonder if something is wrong with it.

sounds like you have a power vent water heater. the blower should only run a few minutes before and after the main burner of the water heater comes on. it should not be on all the time

That is a high efficiency water heater. The fan is called an induced draft fan and it runs when the water heater is actually heating the water. The pipe is the flue pipe.

if it is bothering you you should look for a more quiet exhaust fan what it does is sucks the fumes out pipe so they don’t get traped in the garage and harm someone
