Will The Next President Support An Interstate Water System?

A program reminiscent to President Roosevelt’s New Deal Era is attracting a lot of attention lately – an Interstate Water System. In short, a network of canals would divert water from rivers on the verge of flooding to huge reservoirs in drought stricken areas of the country. The system is expensive, but would pay for itself in only a few years by preventing billions in flood damage. Also, thousands of jobs would be created stimulating economic growth. What are your thoughts on the matter?

There is nothing in the Constitution that authorizes anything this wild. If the states want to come up with a plan to mitigate the problems of flooding, then they can go for it. Keeping th efederal government far away from the project would be the best thing possible.

Interesting that this follows politicians frothing at the mouth over the Great Lakes. I bet they’d love to have canals running from them.
